Exactly like Santa's sleigh except better because it's filled with glorious books! Every year our Bookmobile service provides almost 1000 books to homebound patrons who would not otherwise make it to the library.
Before dropping another $15 on Amazon or Audible for your next read, borrow it from your public library! What's in our collection? Thousands of new releases, bestsellers, classics, children's books, and more. Stop by the front desk and ask us to show you how.
"If you love talking about Harry Potter and constantly find yourself re-reading the series, then please check out our podcast! We are reading one chapter of Harry Potter every week (going in chronological order), and discussing it and how it relates to our lives. We pick a theme and view the plot, the characters, and the subtext through that lens. We totally believe that the more times we read Harry Potter, the more we get out of it." Listen on Soundcloud.
The Friends of the Potsdam Public Library is a volunteer group that supports the mission of our public library. We accept donations of good, used books and use them to stock our book store in the basement of the library. We also hold several yearly book sales and sell high quality donated books on Amazon. Finally, we send off unsold books to a consignment service in exchange for a percentage of their sales value. All of the money we make in these ventures goes to support the library and its programs.
The Potsdam Public Library is central to the intellectual life of our community. It provides the tools, resources, and techniques for literacy, lifelong learning, recreation, and research. Our library is a leveling influence on the digital divide, providing high-speed internet access, digital literacy and career training, and videoconferencing services to vulnerable and underserved patrons.
On the second Wednesday of every month, the Potsdam Public Library Board of Trustees meets in the Cleveland Center, on the lower level of the library, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. These meetings are always open to the public. Please feel welcome to join us and listen in, or add your comments to the official record. The next meeting will be held on July 12th, 2016.

HUGE THANKS to the young men of Sigma Phi Epsilon - Clarkson and their alumni who sponsored a Bike-a-thon fundraising event to help Literacy in St. Lawrence County! Their efforts to raise awareness amounted to a generous donation of $1500. This, along with individual donors' gifts for the past week, has helped LIFE - Literacy Is For Everyone - meet our first goal for funds to launch the Literacy Program! Thank you to all who have contributed.
